Texas Children’s gave us hope during our son’s struggle with tuberous sclerosis
When Rebecca Carroll was 30 weeks pregnant, an MRI showed there was strong evidence to suggest the son she carried would have tuberous sclerosis, a rare disease causing benign tumors in the brain and other parts of the body. There was a good chance he would develop seizures. After Warren was born, tests showed he was a good candidate for epileptic brain surgery. His neurologist referred the Carroll’s to Texas Children’s Hospital. In Feb 2019, met with TCH’s Chief of Neurosurgery Dr. Howard Weiner and neurosurgeon Dr. Daniel Curry, to map out the surgical treatment plan for Warren.
Since his three surgeries in July and August 2019, the Carroll’s say their son is doing amazingly well. We are grateful to our doctors in Boston and the neurosurgery team at Texas Children’s for taking the time to review Warren’s case and determine the best surgical approach to treat our son’s seizures. I am thankful to everyone who was involved in Warren’s care. He’s now 7, loving everything to do with the outdoors and making sweet strides.
